Well, the new year is almost upon us. I tend to think of my life in an ever-flowing current and don’t really focus on the bookend of a year as the pages draw to a close. Maybe that’s just so I don’t mind sitting at home sipping wine and reading while other people get glammed up and go out (this is something I have never minded, though!)
This past year was a good one. We grew a bit, we laughed a lot, and we learned. Nothing drastic moved or changed, and that was good for us. The previous year was well-documented in a video every day, and then 2015 was more relaxed, if less ambitious or satisfying. I worked more, I wrote less. If I could pick a couple of things to keep in my mind in 2016, it would be exercise more (make time for yoga especially) and meal plan better.
My sweet little boy is snoozing. Today, I was up at six am. We dozily watched movies, we did groceries, we played. We went bundled up and climbed the highest snowbank outside, over and over. Both my inlaws and then my mom stopped by today to see our son and his special homemade Christmas gift that I finished a bit too late. We had spaghetti with homemade sauce for dinner.
These days are normal, fleeting – the pieces of an intricate puzzle that I can examine later on. Sometimes when I think about all of the things I want to tackle this year, it feels overwhelming. So we go bit by bit, day by day, crossing items off a list. Things do get done, and more importantly, our lives get lived more happily and fully.
Happy New Year to everyone – may lots of happy memories by made in 2016!
